History

AS MAAG Grupp is an Estonian-capital-based company established in 1997, out of which a group of companies dealing with the production and sales of food articles has grown by today. Maag Group includes several companies related to the production, warehousing and distribution of food articles in Estonia’s meat and dairy market.

During the previous years, the benchmark events have been:


27.06.1996 Tartu City Government issued a license for Maag
21.05.1997 Maag AS was registered with the Commercial Register
Since 2003 the meat industry Maag Lihatööstus (the former Filee Lihatööstus) uses the brand Rannarootsi
In 2004 the Lithuanian representation started work
In 2004 the Polish subsidiary Avalon Foods started work
In 2005 the Latvian representation started work
In April 2005 the storehouse and office building of AS Maag Lihatööstus was completed in Rae Municipality with the total storage space of 1990 m2 office space of 450 m2
In January 2009 the extension of office space was completed, adding 200 m2 of office space
In July 2008 an extension of Maag Group’s storehouses with respect to storage space was completed in Tartu, adding 450 m2 of storage space

At the moment the storage space in Tartu totals 2,230 m2

In 2005 Rannamõisa brand was brought to the market. Under the brand the consumers can buy high-quality poultry products brought to Estonia from Latvia and Lithuania


During 2005 nearly EEK 17 million was invested in Leediküla cattle farm in the process of Nigula Piim’s farm construction
In 2007 the largest investment was the purchase of Maag Piimatööstus
In the dairy industry 2008 ended with the merge of Rakvere Piim and Maag Piimatööstus. During the merge we acquired the Farm brand and new products are launched under the Farm brand in the dairy industry
In autumn 2008 we entered the market of pet foods and started to sell canned dog food under the name ROY

The meat industry keeps the chosen course despite the hard times and the consumers are loyal to the Rannarootsi brand

Rannamõisa poultry industry has brought many new products to the market this season and also maintained its existing products’ market position.

The canned food industry is the market leader in its product group.
